Education Programs
ECHO Project educational resources are developed and provided individually by the collaborating organizations and by a variety of combinations of these organizations. Curriculum writers incorporate cultural and local the
mes to create placed-based curriculum and programs that enhance and foster cultural identity and pride. By connecting to state and national curriculum standards we ensure that these materials have national applicability. Curriculum materials are currently part of WGBH's Teacher's Domain website and can also be found via the ECHO organizations' websites.
ECHO Project partners hold professional development workshops during which we share both human and written resources. Educators from Alaska, Hawaii, Massachusetts and Mississippi have led or attended workshops in the other states, bringing their diverse backgrounds and experiences to share with other educators. The Connecting Oceans Academy, Performing Arts Festival Curriculum, Inupiat Immersion Camp, Southcentral Alaska Cultural Immersion Experience, and Cultural Awareness Workshops are examples of successful professional development workshops.
