ECHO Climate Change Symposium 2009

Tree Planting Ceremony at close of ECHO Climate Change Symposium.

The ECHO Climate Change Symposium 2009, which took place April 5 - 7 at the San Francisco Exporatorium, organized by the Iñupiat Heritage Center of Barrow, Alaska, and hosted by the other collaborating institutions of ECHO, brought together experts in a variety of disciplines to consider how climate change was affecting people across the United States, and how they could best communicate the issue beyond the scientific community.

Native subsistence hunters, members of the Coast Guard, climate and ocean scientists in a variety of disciplines and museum educators gathered to relate personal experiences and share approaches to bring the severity of the challenge to light in clear, understandable ways.
