Tanik Trader with Baleen

The trader, a White man, stands next to cleaned baleen. Baleen was a major part of trade between Inupiat and the trading posts on the North Slope, but it was also important in the Inupiaq trade between inlanders (Nunamiut) and shore people (Tagiugmiut).
