- Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum
"Che-hun-ta-mo!"
Welcome!
In the Seminole language, Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki means 'a place to learn' The museum (located at the Big Cypress Reservation in Clewiston, Florida) invites its visitors to learn about Seminole history and culture. The museum exhibits rare artifacts and has educational programs for all ages throughout the year including school tours, art and nature programs, exhibitions, and a regionally recognized community outreach program. The museum film, 'We Seminoles,' tells their story in their own words, including their dramatic struggle to remain in Florida and becoming one of the most resilient Native American culture groups--growing from a peoples surviving principally from the land to now operating profitable business enterprises (such as the Hardrock Cafe and casino conglomerate), to having an active and organized political and business structure. The Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum is an affiliate of the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian, and is the only tribal museum in the nation fully accredited by the American Association of Museums (AAM).
